Do you have a wardrobe full of clothes you don't want to wear any more?

Matlock's First Swap to Shop Day.

A fantastic way to stop unwanted clothes going to waste.

Please support your Totally Locally Independent

Shops and Bars and pop along to this event to revamp your wardrobe.

It sounds a fun Sunday.

Swap 2 Shop Ladies Day – How it works Sunday 19 August 2012

Step 1 Go through your wardrobe and dig out good condition ladieswear, shoes, hats, bags, belts and scarves that you no longer wear.

Step 2 Bring along up to 7 swaps to The Black Hippo between 9am and 12pm* where it will be colour-graded for fair swaps:

RED: Budget labels (Asda, Primark, Peacocks etc) = 1 swap voucher

YELLOW: High St. Labels ( H&M, Topshop, Zara etc.) = 2 swap vouchers

GREEN: Higher-end High St (Reiss, Jaeger, Laura Ashley, French  Connection etc.), or clothing made from expensive materials (pure silk, tweed,  Angora wool, heavily beaded etc.) = 3 swap vouchers

Once you have left your items with us you will receive your clothing “swap vouchers” ready for swapping. All you need to do next is come back to the Black Hippo between 1pm and 6pm to claim your swaps (no money is exchanged, the swaps are free!).

Step 3 If you don’t manage to use up all your vouchers you can keep them for next time or even take home your unwanted swaps (provided they haven’t been snapped up already) - you choose!

We will be accepting new swops all day, however we recommend getting your items to the Black Hippo as early as you can to ensure your items get swapped. Anything that is brought to us later on has no guarantee of being swapped.

Swapping Guidelines: Please check your swaps before you bring them along and  remember if they are too well worn for you, they will be for somebody else!

What we do not accept at Swap Shop: * Stained/moth-holed garments * Well-worn heels on shoes and boots * Fraying/marked hems on trousers/jeans * Bobbling knitwear and t-shirts * Garments that have shrunk in the wash * Lingerie/swimwear * Garments with broken zips *

All items left behind after the swap shop will be donated to a local charity.

Wow - what a fantastic Totally Locally meeting we had last night!

Now we need to get all the Hidden Gems of Matlock listed on our new Totally Locally soon to be arriving website.

So we need you to nominate your Hidden Gems of Matlock....

Who is your Hidden Gem?

Which shop, cafe, business, person around Matlock

would you recommend?

We need your help to find out about the Hidden Gems in our area – those shops, businesses and people that stand out and make the Matlock area unique and special.  People tell us it is really hard to write about their own shop and that it’s easier to write about other peoples, so here is our little guide to help you write about each other!

If everyone writes something about each other telling people about all the great shops, people will get excited about it and it makes a fantastic start to the website and campaign!

Please can you copy and paste these questions into your email and email the answers to me Helen at

.....................................................................................................................

Tell us the name of your favourite shop/business?  Address?  (If known)

Who is the owner?  (If known)

Why is it your favourite shop?

What is the thing you love about it most?  (It could be good service, great food, etc.)

What makes them special?  (It could be the fact that they are supporting their local community or it could be something that made you smile)

What do they sell?

Is their anything that they do outside their business that impacts on where they live, their town and community?

Do you know it they stock any locally made products?  If so, what and where are they made?

What is your name and shop/business?

If you’d like to see a few examples to get you going visit www.totally-locally.co.uk and click on Hidden Gems.  If you’re a bit nervous it’s OK just write what you think, you’ll get the idea.

THANK YOU  FOR TAKING THE TIME OUT TO FILL THIS IN!

If you have any photos of your own business that you would like to be used please email them to me as well.
